In our kennel vom Berkelbogen we dedicate ourselves with passion and a lot of heart to the breeding of the Basset Bleu de Gascogne - a noble, intelligent and loyal dog breed with French roots.

Our first litter is planned for fall 2025!
We are already preparing everything with great care to give our future puppies the best possible start in life.
Our aim is to offer our future puppies a sheltered, familiar environment with close contact to humans.

We attach particular importance to responsible breeding that preserves the typical nature, robustness and characteristic traits of these special dogs.

The Basset Bleu de Gascogne is a rare but fascinating dog breed from France.

Basset Bleu de Gascogne - Short & sweet

✔Origin:Old French hunting dog breed from the Gascogne region.
✔Use: Hunting dog, but also ideal for mantrailing, tracking & rescue work.
✔Peculiarities: Outstanding nose, friendly character, persistent & intelligent.
✔Appearance: Typical blue-marbled coat, strong build.
✔FCI Group: Running Dogs, Welding Dogs & Related Breeds.

Characteristic features

✔Fur: Short, dense, black and white marbled with a slate blue sheen.
✔Special markings: Four-eye patches above the eyes, tan markings on head, ears and legs.
✔Body build: Elongated, strong, muscular with slightly turned forelegs.
✔Head: Narrow, with pronounced occipital protuberance and broad black nose.
✔Ears & eyes: Long, thin ears; gentle, slightly melancholy look.

✔Intelligent & independent: Works closely with humans, but with a high degree of independence.
